BANBẸ (BAA NIBẸ) - MEETING UP TO THING.S THAT FIT.S WITH TIME

Image
By Ganiyu Ayanniyi Mubaraq   In African settings as well as in other parts of the world, it is very common for parents to provide for the basic needs of their children due to the immense love they have for them or probably because it's the parents' primary responsibility to the.ir child.ren (UNICEF, Right of the Child)*. It is a common practice among Yoruba people to buy things that last. Things that would be very relevant at the time of purchase and in the future; if not, then for them, such things are not worthy of purchase. So, they sew or buy things that last a long time, especially clothes and shoes, and such are often called Banbẹ in Yoruba language. Banbẹ is a common habit among Yoruba people (in my observation), especially Yoruba parents. Banbẹ means to meet something with its long-term value in due time for present or future use. In another simple translation, it means "meet it there". The Yoruba parents in question are mostly mothers, probably because they a

I see the feminine figurine. I see the shadow of an artistic wine. I endure her solace like a cooling turbine. Oh! I like this bodily twine. I like her two frontal oranges Yes! They make me the boss of old ages I like the two tiny little balls that broaden to her encircled cages. I lost myself in her like those moderate sages. I see, truly, I masterly see. Her mouth is furnished with sweets of that precious bee. Her tongue is worded with sugary tea. Oh! I cherish this baby. Enormously, her face is endowed with all-stars. On her, I see my match of stars; How would it be when mine unite with hers. Sure, thy entourage would be blessed with the most precious stars. I'm moved by this bodily shape: Back, middle, side, front; just like juicy grape. All of hers are soft, cool, and never fade. Honestly, all I see, not a mouthed facade. © Ayanniyi (TheLucky)

POEM: INCLUSION IN DIVERSITY

Image
Disability is not an inability. In this society of no ease, God can enslave a king to enthrone a slave in His capacity. So, disability is not a disease. An ability to do whatever is emotional. Then later, it turns spiritual; That is why God is the most spiritual of all. And everything awakens our consciousness to seem political. The sun shines in the day, So as the moon stars in the night. Everyone has a profile to be relevant any day, Just do not belittle anyone's might. There is time for everything. Doing the right thing at the appropriate moment is godliness. Everyone is destined to set a purpose - something. Holiness is unavoidable in society by avoiding evilness like stinginess. Who kills others' chances? A murderer! How do you feel like a "destiny slayer"? Nobody knows how the stars and moon are created; Same as the sun which can't be evaded. Accept the differences in all as colours! Yes! imbibe the difference in labours. No matter how strange it is - divers

MADE IN HEAVEN

Lonely in my jungle Sitting while reflecting on life. I feel happy in the internal angle Because of my angel here high. Many thoughts ponder my mind Yeah, when I see you from behind. Where are you from ? Why so beautiful different to others ? Hmm! I feel so jealous Because, it's a dream to have you. Beauty with good characters, A nice combo of lines and stanzas! Babe, who made you ? You're unique In the whole universe. Is it the smile from you ? All of yours make me go gaga. ©️ G. Ayanniyi M. (TheLucky)

WHY THE QUEEN ELIZABETH II OF UNITED KINGDOM INHERITED THE THRONE INSTEAD OF A "KING" AS CEREMONIAL HEAD ?

By Ganiyu Ayanniyi M. The story of Rulership or Princeship in the UK has always spat arguments between people interested in knowing history. Some Kings ruled as well as some Queens. Some got abdicated as the case of Edit Edward VIII, later Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor. But, what is the case of Queen Elizabeth II ? The Queen Elizabeth II of UK was born in 21 April 1926 by King George VI of UK and queen Elizabeth Bowes-Lyo. Queen Elizabeth II is the eldest daughter of her parents who only had two daughters. Her younger sister is named Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. She is married to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (a Prince from Greek descent). After the death of her father, she started reigning as the queen of UK from 6 February 1952 till date but was coronated in 2 June 1953, since, she was the eldest daughter and with an absence of a male child. The Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were fruitful and gave birth to four offsprings named: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, P

BECAUSE I AM A LADY

Image
(A dedication to all beings with the feminine gender clamouring for their rights) By GANIYU AYANNIYI M. Being beautifully made, It is a crime. Walking alone on special purpose, Is forbidden every time. Because I am a lady! My thoughts are tested, Through sexual harassment. My body is seen,  As object of pleasure. Because I am a lady. My movements are restricted, Because I am not safe. Yes! In the lands of my forefathers, Not even safe in the house of God. Because I am a lady. I wear hijab or niqaab, They say I am not holy. I wear skirt or trouser. They say, I am a prostitute. Because I am a lady. From birth till now, I have always been a device of assault. I have long been confined, Even before these pandemic situations. They rape me: physically and spiritually, the beasts. I am now in thrust, Where I trust no one. Hmm! To love, I find it hard. Because no one knows me within. Oh! I have been raped, mentally. Because I am a lady, Nobody tries to listen to me. Ah! I am always at fault, t

Buhari, Nigeria and the Nigerians of today.

By Ganiyu Ayanniyi M. Nigeria is regarded as one of the Africa great nations which is expected to lead other fellow African and non African countries by examples. But, is the nation showing her great resourceful prowess by leading herself and other nations ? That is what many people ask "Where does the greatness of Nigeria now lies ?" Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari had faced and still going through a lot of criticism both at home and abroad in which some lead to appraisals or condemnations that fuel to being "hate speech" when turnout hot. Buhari's policy is seen as many as being silent through voice but louder through action. This is to say that Buhari is a man of few words but full of actions which might be positive or negative. BUHARI'S NEW KYARI, PROF. GAMBARI. It is no longer breaking that Prof. Agboola Gambari, a native of Ilorin in Kwara state, is the new Chief of staff of President Muhammadu Buhari. REFLECTION: a limitless journey Here comes a day Yeah, the one one can't say Who knows how it's going to be ? Hmm, sightless as none could ever see. Seen is the picture of the unknown. Hmm, a trip to the unknown clown. And, if it was to be a 'yes' scene. Prefer a teen with or less nineteen. Thought to the right, But still meditating on a night. Yeah, when everything will be no more. Nonsense, hate it to the core. Stay there lifeless, All of all is meaningless. Stay bright, Your life is more than something light. Why can't you think without destinations? Maybe like that you can detect a solution... Just there being people's toy Well, is that a success ploy ? What is all this being typed ? Nothing, but a limitless reflexion. Why letting you being hyped ? Life continues after one's ascension! By: G.A.M. New story: ESCAPE ROUTE

By Wínlàdé Their friendship with the corridor of power is the curse that drives us towards the escape route, which leads to any land behind the ocean.  -WOBB In our place, we heard the story of how our forefathers fell in love with Westerners and adopted their faith and education. The epic narration of how they fought the fight of faith and brought down the altar of Babel at the expense of sojourning in the heart of the forest far away from the sight of their fathers and relatives’ wrath remains the pride of those who have acknowledged the call of God over their life. We grew up with a sense of belonging to education. In our schools with perforated roof and doorless entrance, we exuded pride in the euphoria of the world of intellectualism our scholarly fathers’ exploits painted in our memory. The tale of how professor Lapade and emeritus professor Gbenro played football with Barrister Akinwumi on the pitch in the compound of Baptist Primary School in the year 1935 was  our inspir

Image
Timigrace Institute For Teenagers Initiative (TINTI) TINTI is an institute created to make teenagers and youths come to the knowledge of the illness of premarital sex, teenage pregnancy and adolescent motherhood. TINTI is an institute with several visions but the motherly vision that births the other ones is; To reduce teenage pregnancy and adolescent motherhood in Nigeria, francophone and lusophone countries and if possible the world at large. For sometimes and now TINTI is known for; Sensitising teenagers on the effects of premarital sex, encouraging teenagers to focus on the pursuit of excellence rather than involving premarital sex and if at all we have any that have involved in this act and result to teenage pregnancy, TINTI also made provision for them by encouraging them to rise up and develop skills for immediate and future survival and how does this institute carry out these goals? TINTI visits four schools both primary and secondary schools in a year aside any
