INSTRUCTIONS TO OAU-AFLS FRESHMEN
The first category of elective courses (Compulsory elective) requires
that, you must register and pass them, without which you can not be
called a graduate until u passed them. But meanwhile, they do not
affect your grade points (gp)
To the best of my knowledge, they are two
1) SER 001 Use of English (2 units ×two semesters) and
2) LIB 001 Use of Library (0 unit × two semesters)
and others in the department are called *restricted electives* might
be FRN 101&102, PRT 101 & 102, GMN 101 & 102.
Note; you can't pick restricted elective from your course of study.
Only French non beginners students can pick restricted elective
(introduction to second language) in while in part 1 & 2. French
beginners, Portuguese, German students do their restricted elective
(introduction to second language) in while in part 1 and 4
Introduction to second language change to PRT105 & 106 or GMN 105 &
106 for part 2 French non beginners students while for French
beginners students, Portuguese and German students change to FRN 105 &
106, PRT 105 & 106& GMN 105& 106 while in part 4
DON'T BE ASTONISHED IF YOU PART TWO OR PART FOUR STUDENTS IN YOUR
CLASS. IT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S CARRYOVER
Note; 101 for first semester
102 for second semester
105 for harmattan (first) semester
106 for rain (second) semester ... They have effects on gp
The second category of electives are Special electives, they do not
affect your GP as well and *They are very many*
*But you must pass at least 6 of them before graduation*
They can be done any time, either first semester part one or second
semester or part two or part three or part 4 or part 5.
*But it is better to offer them in part one if you have the space on ur portal*
These electives include:
SEA 001
SED 001
SEE 001
SEG 001
SEH 001
SEL 001
SEM 001
SEO 001
SEP 001
SET 001
for first semester
And SEA 002
SED 002
SEE 002
.
.
.
SET 002
for second semester.
All these are just 2 units each
And you need to pass only 6 of them before you graduate. Which will
amount to 12 units in total.
And remember *They do not affect your GP*
Not registering course registration for a semester lead the person to
score zero in all and not doing so for two consecutive semesters lead
the students out of the school
Please don't do mistake ooo... If don't get any information... Ask again
*What can I do if I study language?*
You can be a lecturer
Ambassador
Language translator
You can possibly work in any company you desire, It depends on the
department you will be and the work u will do
And aside all, after school, one must get another extra work e.g
computer science, designer either cloth or graphics
You can work in the army
Navy
Airforce
Google it... I see their criteria in languages... I have seen the
advert severally on their sites
Language is broad
Language doesn't cover a topic or something like economics alone... It
covers all science, art, businesses etc
