EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN NIGERIA IS A FAILURE.

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN NIGERIA IS A FAILURE.

Reserved! Educational system in Nigeria is a Failure. If you are asked
to say about what the term ‘Education’ means what would you say? To
me, Education is the act of learning or receiving knowledge in one way
or other whether by receiving theoretical lectures, Physical Practical
etc as Education can either be formal, informal or non-formal. Formal education is usually in school, where a person may learn basic, academic, or trade skills. Small children often attend a nursery or kindergartenbut often formal education begins inelementary school and continues withsecondary school. Post-secondary education (or higher education) is usually at a college or university which may grant an academic degree.
Non-formal education includes adult basic education, adult literacy education or school equivalency preparation. In nonformal education someone (who is not in school) can learn literacy, other basic skills or job skills. Home educationindividualized instruction(such as programmed learning),distance learning and computer-assisted instruction are other possibilities.
Informal education may be a parent teaching a child how to prepare a mealor ride a bicycle. People can also get an informal education by reading manybooks from a library or educationalwebsites. Informal education is when you are not studying in a school and do not use any particular learning method. Below are my reasons why I think ‘Educational
system in Nigeria is a failure’:
Firstly, when you observe the system of Education Operated in Nigeria
to that of Western countries i.e. France, England etc. you will be
discouraged due to Bad educational curriculum operated in Nigeria wish
is to be revised. And the government have made all sectors in Nigeria
political which is not to be done e.g. giving slot to some people
without proper exams for them to be given employment in some
Educational institutions which I see to be political because they only
employ their family members and relatives in key post.
Secondly, the government of the Nigerian Federation is making
Education less attractive through High School bills, Shortage in power
supply which student need to read and do other important educational
things that requires electricity and low Existence of
Socio-Educational infrastructures i.e. Laboratories, Libraries which
would have help the system widely.
Thirdly, Most Teachers who are employed in some Nigerian institutions
are not skilful and not clever at times because they have no knowledge
in the field they have been employed.
Other points why I support that Educational system operated in Nigeria
is a failure are: high level of examination malpractice which is
supported and encouraged by students, parent through giving their
children funds for the bad acts and teacher by accepting to be
corrupted to help the examination malpractice.
Solutions to what that led to the failures in the Educational system
include: Punishing any person caught in immoral acts, Providing
adequate equipments to some less standard educational institutions,
Encouraging Education by Organising schemes that will help students
i.e. Scholarship etc.
I think with these few points of mine you can now testify that The
Educational System operated in Nigeria is a Failure.
