NUC List Of Approved Universities For Postgraduate Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has observed with great concern that some Nigerian universities are running unapproved postgraduate programmes, leading to the award of Masters and PhD degrees. ....... Click Here to advertise on the page The Commission has also observed that some Parastatals and Institutes are awarding these same Postgraduate degrees, either on their own or through unapproved affiliations with Nigerian and foreign Universities. Such practices are not only unethical, but also antithetical to time-tested quality assurance best practices. The qualifications/awards resulting therefrom are not recognized. The Commission hereby notifies the general public that only the following universities have approval to offer postgraduate programmes at the Masters and Ph.D levels in Nigeria; Federal Universities : 1. President Buhari orders vice chancellors to expel university students with low CGPA

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday gave vice chancellors a marching order to expel students with less than 0.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from next academic session.                                                                              President Buhari Such students, he said, are unserious elements that should not be accommodated any longer in higher institutions. The President also cautioned governing councils and managements universities against muzzle-flexing and ego-tripping, which he said had thrown affected universities into avoidable crises. Buhari spoke at the 31st convocation of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). He further assured his administration was committed to the 2009 agreement entered into with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has officially resumed work at the national secretariat of the party. Addressing the Imo State PDP delegation who paid him a visit in Abuja, Senator Sheriff said the party is in its current leadership mess because of the imposition of candidates against the wishes of the people. He, however, stated optimism that he would return the party to the people. With effect from this year (2017), candidates awaiting results would no longer be eligible to apply for the Universities Tertiary Matriculation Examination, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, said in Abuja on Tuesday. The organisation also said it had concluded all restructuring and reforms and is now set to commence the sale of its application document in March. The restructuring exercise will now allow for only one choice of public university in which new registration platform will now be first choice, second choice, third choice and fourth choice and not most preferred, preferred choice.
